Play Thousands of Amiga Games In-Browser,
Internet Archive has released an archive of over 10,000 Commodore Amiga games, from 1980s Amiga 500 games to Amiga 1200 titles from circa 1995. The Amiga was one of the most popular home computers during the late-Eighties and early-Nineties, known for its impressive collection of games, art packages, and video processing capabilities, the latter of which was utilised to create the visual effects for cult sci-fi TV serial
Babylon 5
.
You don’t need an emulator to open the various games and programs: as with previous collections hosted by Internet Archive – like its MS-DOS repository – all the software can be opened in-browser, no fuss, though some of the games are buggy and can take a while to load.
Highlights of Internet Archive’s Amiga game collection include:
Bubble Bobble
Frontier: Elite II
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?
Alien Breed
R-Type
Wizball
Treasure Island Dizzy
Lemmings
Marble Madness
King’s Quest
Turrican
Flashback
Stunt Car Racer
Hired Guns
Laser Squad
Simon the Sorcerer
SimCity
Space Hulk
It Came from the Desert
Xenon 2: Megablast
Bard’s Tale
Paradroid 90
The collection also includes a number of Amiga Format public domain games, plus various art and programming packages. Notable absentees, though, include
Sensible World of Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Turrican 2, Speedball 2, Syndicate
, and
Another World
, as well as the
Shadow of the Beast
,
UFO/XCOM
, and
Monkey Island
series.
